Nutraceuticals are essential food constituents that provide nutritional benefits as well as medicinal effects. The benefits of these foods are due to the presence of active compounds such as carotenoids, collagen hydrolysate, and dietary fibers. Nutraceuticals have been found to positively affect cardiovascular and immune system health and have a role in infection and cancer prevention. Nutraceuticals can be categorized into different classes based on their nature and mode of action. In this review, different classifications of nutraceuticals and their potential therapeutic activity, such as anti-cancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-lipid activity in disease will be reviewed. Moreover, the different mechanisms of action of these products, applications, and safety upon consumers including current trends and future prospect of nutraceuticals will be included.  相似文献

The cross-stream migration of a circular particles (or infinitely long cylinder) in two dimensional, inertia-less viscoelastic pressure-driven flows is examined through complementary finite element simulations and second-order fluid perturbation analyses for small Deborah number (De), where De is defined as the fluid relaxation time divided by the characteristic flow time. A neutrally buoyant, freely suspended particle migrates toward the center of the channel for all particle sizes and cross-stream positions due to the coupled effects of the linear and quadratic variations of the imposed velocity. A particle that is held at a fixed position, in contrast, experiences a cross-stream force directed toward the wall as a result of the coupled effects of the local shear flow and the flow relative to the particle.  相似文献

Sn-Fe thin films were electrodeposited by constant current deposition on copper substrates using an aqueous gluconate based electrolyte with varying concentrations of the organic additive peptone. Good quality metallic deposits were obtained with surface morphologies which varied with the concentration of peptone present in the electrolyte. The effect of peptone concentration on the deposition process was studied using electrochemical polarization curves and EDX analysis. The effect of peptone concentration on deposit structure and surface morphology was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and 57Fe and 119Sn conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy (CEMS). It was concluded that the addition of small amounts of peptone to the electrolyte slightly increased the bath stability and led to changes in the alloy composition of the electrodeposits. It was found that increases in the peptone content increased the amount of the crystalline structure in the deposits with corresponding reductions in the amounts of amorphous structure present in the deposits.  相似文献

L-N-MCd4T (1) has been synthesized as a potent anti-HIV agent starting from (R)-epichlorohydrin using tandem alkylation, chemoselective reduction of ester in the presence of lactone functional group, RCM reaction and Mitsunobu reaction as key steps and was found to be a very potent anti-HIV-1 (EC50 = 6.76 microg mL(-1)) agent without cytotoxicity up to 100 microg mL(-1), indicating that the anti-HIV-1 activity found is similar to that of ddI (EC50 = 4.95 microg mL(-1)), which is used clinically for the treatment of AIDS patients.  相似文献

tert-Azido or amino substituted penciclovir analogs, 1-3 were synthesized for the purpose of improving the efficacy and bioavailability of penciclovir and searching for novel antiviral agents. Among several methods attempted to insert an azido group into the alpha,beta-unsaturated ester 6, only Bronsted acid-catalysed 1,4-conjugate addition conditions (NaN3, 75% acetic acid, 80 degrees C) gave the desired tert-azido product 7. The synthesized final penciclovir analogs 1-3 were evaluated in vitro against several viruses such as HIV-1, HSV-1 and 2, poliovirus, VZV, and VSV. Compound 2 only showed weak antiviral activity against HSV-1 without cytotoxicity. Although the synthesized compounds did not exhibit an excellent antiviral activity, the successful method used in introducing the tert-azido group is expected to be generally utilized for the synthesis of nucleoside analogs with a tert-azido substituent.  相似文献

S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase (SAHH), a cellular enzyme that plays a key role in methylation reactions including those required for maturation of viral mRNA, is an important drug target in the discovery of antiviral agents. While targeting the active site is a straightforward strategy of enzyme inhibition, evidence of allosteric modulation of active site in many enzymes underscores the molecular origin of signal transduction. Information of co-evolving sequences in SAHH family and the key residues for functional dynamics that can be identified using native topology of the enzyme provide glimpses into how the allosteric signaling network, dispersed over the molecular structure, coordinates intra- and intersubunit conformational dynamics. To study the link between the allosteric communication and functional dynamics of SAHHs, we performed Brownian dynamics simulations by building a coarse-grained model based on the holo and ligand-bound structures. The simulations of ligand-induced transition revealed that the signal of intrasubunit closure dynamics is transmitted to form intersubunit contacts, which in turn invoke a precise alignment of active site, followed by the dimer-dimer rotation that compacts the whole tetrameric structure. Further analyses of SAHH dynamics associated with ligand binding provided evidence of both induced fit and population shift mechanisms and also showed that the transition-state ensemble is akin to the ligand-bound state. Besides the formation of enzyme-ligand contacts at the active site, the allosteric couplings from the residues distal to the active site are vital to the enzymatic function.  相似文献

We present molecular dynamics simulations coupled with a dissipative particle dynamics thermostat to model and simulate the behavior of symmetric diblock copolymer/nanoparticle systems under simple shear flow. We consider two categories of nanoparticles, one with selective interactions toward one of the blocks of a model diblock copolymer and the other with nonselective interactions with both blocks. For the selective nanoparticles, we consider additional variants by changing the particle diameter and the particle-polymer interaction potential. The aim of our present study is to understand how the nanoparticles disperse in a block copolymer system under shear flow and how the presence of nanoparticles affects the rheology, structure, and flow behavior of block copolymer systems. We keep the volume fraction of nanoparticles low (0.1) to preserve lamellar morphology in the nanocomposite. Our results show that shear can have a pronounced effect on the location of nanoparticles in block copolymers and can therefore be used as another parameter to control nanocomposite self-assembly. In addition, we investigate the effect of nanoparticles on shear-induced lamellar transition from parallel to perpendicular orientation to further elucidate nanocomposite behavior under shear, which is an important tool to induce long-range order in self-assembling materials such as block copolymers.  相似文献
